WHY WE SHOULDN'T FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT OUR BODY HAIR

We, as humans, have created a lot of ways to get rid of our natural hair. Yet, in comparison to our ancestors, today we are almost naked.

As we all know, humans have been evolving for millions of years. Our bodies change according to our needs. When we lived in an icy climate, we had fur to keep us warm. But when the climate changed and became warmer, that fur was no longer useful. Today, most of our hair serves a purpose, so why are we so eager to get rid of something that is natural and helpful?

For example, our eyebrows. Apart from helping us express our emotions, the hair keeps sweat out of our eyes. Our scalp hair is just as important. It shields the hair from the direct force of the sun and leaves air between the scalp and the hair's hot surface, so that your sweat can evaporate.

Our hairiest regions carry two kinds of sweat glands. The eccrine glands, which are needed for cooling, and the apocrine glands, that empty body odour-carrying fluid into the hair follicle.

Apart from trapping odour, armpit hair reduces friction and helps prevent certain issues, such as ingrown hairs, armpit pimples and skin irritation. Pubic hair serves three main purposes. These include maintaining the optimal temperature for the genitals, reducing friction during sex and preventing bacteria from transmitting to others.

At the end of the day, it is important to remember that everyone has every right to do whatever they want with their body. If they don't want to have body hair, they can get rid of it. On the other hand, if they want to keep it, it is their right.
